Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register?

Use the registration page when registration is open for returning Coral Springs Players. New Players and all neighboring city residents may register at one of our in-person registration dates.

Are there tryouts?

We do not host tryouts. We welcome players of all skill levels and experience. We carefully draft and balance all teams within each division so that every squad features a healthy mix of talents, including advanced players and those new to the game.

When is the season?

Practices usually begin before Thanksgiving, games begin in December, and older divisions finish with the Soccer Bowl tournament.

Is this league run by the City?

No. Coral Springs Youth Soccer is an independent, non-profit organization run by Community Volunteers. We have proudly partnered with the City of Coral Springs for over 50 years and are incredibly grateful for the use of the city's beautiful fields. Our mission is to provide safe, affordable, competitive, and fun soccer for local children of all ages and abilities. We foster community with social events, fundraisers, and community-outreach moments throughout the year. Our volunteers love the sport, love our community, and love the opportunity to share our enthusiasm with families who choose to play with Coral Springs Youth Soccer. We thank every volunteer Coach, every volunteer Director, every Community Sponsor, every Family, and every Player for joining us season after season.

What are the registration fees for the 2026–2027 season?

Fees are structured by age division:
For Coral Springs Residents:
U6 – U8: $155
U10 – U15: $180
U16 – 20U: $195

Note: Registrations include the mandatory City of Coral Springs Sports Participation Fee. Non-residents of Coral Springs must register in person and pay an additional city surcharge fee, unless the player attends a Coral Springs school (proof of local school enrollment required at registration). Additional fees are included in the non-resident rates below.

For Neighboring City Residents:
U6 – U8: $195
U10 – U15: $220
U16 – 20U: $235

What does the registration fee cover, and what do I need to buy?

What we provide: A high-quality team uniform consisting of a jersey, shorts, and matching socks. The registration fee also covers field use for practices and games, referee assignments, as well as player fees from the City of Coral Springs.

What you need to buy:
Shin-guards: Mandatory for all practices and games (no exceptions!).
Cleats: Soccer cleats are highly recommended for safety and traction (metal cleats/studs are strictly prohibited).
A soccer ball: We highly recommend players bring their own ball to practice. Size 3 for U6/U8; Size 4 for U10/U12; Size 5 for U14 and older.
A water bottle: hydration is an important part of any sport, be sure to bring a full water bottle to each practice and game.

When are practices and games?

Practice and game formats are customized by age division to ensure the best development and experience for the players:
U6: Sessions are held only on Sunday afternoons, starting with a 30-minute practice immediately followed by a 40-minute game.
U8: Two 45-minute weekday practices (held at either 6:00 PM or 6:45 PM) and one 40-minute game every Saturday.
U10: Two 1-hour weekday practices (held at either 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM), one 60-minute game on Saturdays, and several tournament games during the post-season.
U12: Two 1-hour weekday practices (held at either 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM, or 8:00 PM), one 60-minute weekend game, 1 to 2 weeknight games, and tournament games.
U14 (Boys) & U15 (Girls): Two 1-hour weekday practices before the winter break (reduced to one practice per week in January). They play games on Saturdays, with additional matches scheduled for weeknights or Sunday afternoons.
U16 (Boys) & 20U (Boys & Girls): One 1-hour weekday practice (held at 8:00 PM or 9:00 PM) and 80-minute games on Sunday afternoons, with occasional matches on weeknights

What if I received my practice schedule and we can't make the assigned times?

Because of the massive size of our league (managing over 2,000 players!), we cannot trade players between teams or rearrange schedules once rosters are set. However, we understand life gets busy: As long as your child can regularly attend at least one of the two scheduled weekly practices, they are in good standing and we will keep them on the team. If your schedule makes it completely impossible to attend either practice, please formally withdraw via email to registration@csys.org. This allows us to immediately welcome another player waiting on our list.

Can my child wear earrings or jewelry during practices/games?

No. For safety reasons, we enforce a strict, zero-tolerance policy against jewelry. No earrings, piercing studs, rings, or hard hair accessories may be worn during any practice or game. Piercings cannot be taped or bandaged over. The only exception is medical alert jewelry, which must be approved by a Board Director and securely taped down. We recommend waiting until the off-season to get any new piercings!

How much playing time will my child get? What is the "Equal Playing Time" Policy?

Equal Playing Time is a core value of our league. This ensures that each child experiences the excitement of a game, learns how to play as a team, feels valued on their team, and grows as a player and a community member. Coaches and Directors are mindful of this key value.

For U15 and Younger: Every player must play at least 3 quarters of every game. No player is allowed to play all 4 quarters unless all other players on the team have played at least 3 quarters.
For U16 & 20U: Every player must play a minimum of two-thirds of the game.

Are the teams Co-Ed?

No. CSYS organizes completely separate divisions for boys and girls to keep play tailored and fair.

How do I find my child's team?

During the season, use the Team Information page to find team, coach, and practice details.

When will I hear from my child's coach?

Our team creation and logistics happen behind the scenes in October and early November. Coaches are handed their rosters in early to mid-November and will contact you immediately. You can also verify your roster spot on our website's Team Information page. IF you have not heard from your coach by November 12th, please contact us at registration@csys.org

Who do I contact?

Use the Contacts page for board members, age group directors, and league contacts.

Can I request to be placed on a team with a specific friend or neighbor?

No. With all of our 2000+ players, CSYS prioritizes fair, competitive, and balanced teams. To ensure equal play, friend and neighbor requests cannot be accommodated.

The only exceptions are:
Siblings: Siblings in the same age group, living at the same address, are placed together unless requested otherwise. This does not apply to cousins or other family members. If siblings have different last names, please alert the Registrar as soon as possible at registration@csys.org

Coach/Sponsor Children: Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and team Sponsors may have their own children pre-assigned to their team and this includes siblings, however there is a maximum of 4 pre-assigned players per team (example, teams will not have 3 pairs of siblings assigned, as that would be 6 players). If a Coach or Sponsor does not have their own child to place on a team, they may request a child on their team, but the request must come from this child's parent or guardian via email to registration@csys.org

My child has never played soccer. Will they fit in?

Absolutely! We welcome players of all skill levels, from complete beginners to seasoned athletes. We take extreme care to balance our teams for fair play, and our strict Equal Playing Time (EPT) policy guarantees that every child gets plenty of active time on the pitch. EPT is a cornerstone of our league that our coaches and directors take very seriously to keep the game both competitive and fun for everyone.

My child is highly skilled. Will this league be competitive enough for them?

Yes! We carefully draft and balance all teams within each division so that every squad features a healthy mix of talents, including advanced players. This format challenges skilled players to grow as leaders while we collectively focus on sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive community involvement on and off the field.

My child is in a younger division, but I'd like them to "play up" for their skill level or to be with a sibling. Is that possible?

Yes. If you would like your child to play in an older age division, you must sign an official "play-up" agreement with our Registrar and the request will go through an approval process. Please email us at registration@csys.org to start this process.

My child is in an older division, but due to their size or age, can they "play down" in a younger division?

No. To ensure player safety and maintain fair competition, players are not permitted to play down. All participants must play within their designated age division or choose to play up.

How do I determine my child's age division?

When Coral Springs residents register online, your child will be placed in the proper age division based on birth year and month outlined in the chart below. Non-residents must register at one of our in-person registration events in August or September.

What if I missed registration?

Late registrants are placed on a waitlist on a first-come, first-served basis. If a spot opens up in your child's division, we will contact you. Please note that we do not add any players to rosters after December 31st. Late registrations are also subject to a $25 late fee.

What is your refund policy?

Because we operate on a tight budget and must prepay for uniforms and league insurance, our refund policy is strict:
Before October 20th: Refunds are available, minus a $20 administration fee, and must be requested in writing to csysadmin@csys.org.
After October 20th: No refunds are issued.

What happens in bad weather or cold temperatures?

Rain/Storms: Always check the homepage of our website (www.CSYS.org) for real-time field status and cancellation updates. We play unless there is lightning or if the City closes the fields.

Cold Weather: We play if it's cold! Players are allowed to wear jackets, sweatshirts, and long athletic pants to stay warm, but they must be worn under their official uniform jersey/shorts.

Who coordinates snacks or post-game celebrations?

Each team is encouraged to welcome each other as a new group within the CSYS Family each season. Post-game snacks are encouraged and coordinated at the team level. Each Coach may choose how the team organizes this fun part of the game and any additional team celebrations.

Where do family members and friends sit during practices or games?

During practices, families are welcome to sit on the sideline, giving room to the Coach to run his/her practice. Families may also choose to sit in a car during practice, but please do not leave the fields in case your player or Coach needs you.

During games, families and friends sit on the opposite sideline of their team, and must sit 4 feet back from the field sideline. This distance allows referees and players space to move safely during the game, and allows fellow parents and families to see the entire field.

How can I support the team?

We encourage cheering and team support, but request that everyone remember that the players and many referees are the children and teens in our community, so please keep your celebrations and frustrations in check. Our Field Monitors are present during games and practices -- look for them wearing a bright blue shirt if assistance is needed.
